HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Volleyball squad overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat visiting Smith College, 3-2, in a non-conference battle at Ray Oosting Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 12-9 on the season, while the Bears dip to 16-9 overall.
What Happened:
- The Bears looked in control early, taking 25-14 and 25-15 victories in the opening two sets.
- In the third set, the Bantams rallied from an 8-2 hole behind a 9-4 run to trim the gap to 12-11. The sides traded points until a 4-0 run from Trinity put the Bantams ahead 18-17. Knotted at 18-18, Trinity closed the frame on a 7-3 run to grab the 25-20 win.
- The fourth set featured 11 ties and five lead changes and the sides battled back-and-forth. Trailing 19-17, the Bantams used a 5-0 run to build a 22-19 advantage, but the Bears would even the score at 23-23. Trinity used kills from Amy Boller and Scarlett Jago to secure the 25-23 win.
- The fifth set provided to be the epitome of the match as the teams found themselves tied on the scoreboard ten times during the frame. As the squads went point-for-point down the stretch to set the score at 15-15, Trinity seal the 17-15 win with an ace from Emma Ewart.

- The Bantams generated 55 kills on 49 assists with 92 digs, 14 blocks and two service aces.
- The Bears logged 60 kills on 54 assists with 93 digs, 25 blocks and five aces.
- Amy Boller came off the bench to led the Bantams with a career-high 13 kills and a career-high four blocks.
- Annette Schlunk tallied a season-high 12 kills with a season-high 12 digs in three sets of action, while Emma Ewart posted her fifth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 17 digs.
- Caroline Howell doled out a team-high 22 assists with 13 digs, and Jago notched a team-high 20 digs.
- Maya Hall added five kills and five blocks, while Ellie Gordon had seven kills, four digs and a block in the win.
- Alison Chapin paced the Bears attack with a match-high 19 kills.
- Alison Klunder recorded 15 kills with 20 digs, while Abby Hunt delivered 12 kills and 14 digs.
- Maddie Hliboki grabbed a match-high 27 digs, and Skye Higashihara dished out a match-high 28 assists.
