Two Late Goals Propels Tufts Past Men's Soccer, 2-1

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Soccer team fell to visiting Tufts University, 2-1, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) clash at the Trinity Soccer Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams move to 3-3-2 on the season, and 0-3-2 in conference play, while the Jumbos hold a 7-1-2 record and a 3-1-2 mark in the NESCAC.

What Happened:
  • With less than 11 minutes left in the first half, the Bantams cracked the scoreboard as a cross from midfield was knocked down by the Tufts defense, but Trevor Saruwaka grabbed the loose ball and fired a shot from outside the box that deflected off a Jumbo defender and past the leap of Nikola Antic to stake Trinity to a 1-0 lead.
  • In the 76th minute, the Jumbos knotted the match as Alex Johnson found the back of the net on a one-timer off a pass from Gianluca Fallone to make it 1-1.
  • Just over four minutes later, Xavier Canfin drove to the goal line and played a ball to the front of the net for the finish from Ellis Denby to send Tufts to the 2-1 win.
