Men's Soccer Falls Short In NESCAC Meeting with Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Trinity College Men's Soccer team suffered a 4-1 defeat to host Wesleyan University in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Jackson Field Tuesday afternoon. The Bantams move to 3-4-2 on the season and 0-4-2 in NESCAC play, while the Cardinals rise to 6-2-2 and 4-0-2 in conference play.

What Happened:

  • The Cardinals netted two goals in the opening half to build a 2-0 lead in the conference match entering the second half. The first goal was scored 2 minutes into play by Cardinals Aidan Londergan, followed by a goal by Ford Cash in the 18th minute.

  • In the 54th minute, Bantams Trevor Saruwaka found a gap in the lower left corner between the posts that trimmed the Cardinals lead making it a one goal game (2-1) early in the second frame. 

  • Four minutes later in play, Londergan netted his second goal of the game lifting the Cardinals back to a two goal lead, 3-1 in the 58th minute. 

  • Wesleyans' Londergan slotted his third goal of the game in the 70th minute to seal the Cardinals 4-1 win in the NESCAC meeting. 

Inside the Numbers:

  • The Bantams fell shy in shots to the Cardinals, 12-10, during the contest.

  • Wesleyan held a slight 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.

  • Nate Dyott made three saves for Trinity.
