Men's Ice Hockey Falls to #9 Hamilton in Overtime, 4-3

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Ice Hockey team took an overtime loss against visiting ninth-ranked Hamilton College, 4-3, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at the Koeppel Community Sports Center Saturday afternoon. The Bantams move to 0-4 on the season, while the Continentals sit at 4-0 overall.

What Happened:
  • Following a scoreless first period, the sides combined for a four-goal second period, beginning as Culin Wilson connected with Ryan Friedman on a 2-on-1 power play opportunity to hand Trinity the 1-0 lead.
  • The Continentals evened the score less than four minutes later as Trinity goaltender Devon Bobak stopped a pair of Hamilton shots, but the loose puck found the stick of Devon de Vries, who snuck the puck past Bobak to knot the game at 1-1.
  • At the 1:42 mark of the second period, Michael Sullo dug out a puck from behind the Hamilton net and stopped Dane Carter in the alley for the one-timer past Continentals goalie Aksel Reid to put the Bantams on top 2-1.
  • With three seconds remaining in the period, Hamilton potted an equalizer on the power play as Luke Tchor was denied by Bobak, but the rebound fell to De Vries for the game-tying strike.
  • The Continental took the lead in the third as Jacob Ierfino found the back of the net during a scrum at the goalmouth, but the Bantams found the answer on a 6-on-5 advantage in the final minute with Ryan Panico scoring off a feed from Connor Sedlak to send the game to overtime, 3-3.
  • Less than a minute into the bonus period, John Wojciechowski tucked in a saved shot in front of the net to send the Continentals to the 4-3 victory.
