HARTFORD, Conn. – The third-seeded Trinity College Women's Basketball team defeated sixth-seeded Tufts University, 72-64, in double overtime, in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Basketball Championship Quarterfinals at Oosting Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. The Bantams rise to 18-7 on the season, while the Jumbos finish at 15-10.

Olivia Vick led all scorers with a game-high 25 points and two assists, while classmate
Madi Forman registered her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Senior
Hannah Marzo pulled down 10 rebounds with nine points and four assists, junior
Melissa Whitmore netted eight points with six rebounds and four assists, and sophomore
Avery Marzo added eight points, seven rebounds, a block and a steal.

Down by seven with 4:14 left in regulation, the Bantams climbed back to force overtime.
Hannah Marzo's two free throws with 51 seconds left evened the score at 48-48, and neither team was able to find the go-ahead basket in regulation. In the first overtime frame, Tufts led by three with 14 seconds to play, Vick drained a 3-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game at 57-57 and force a second extra session. Vick's three was the first of the game for the Bantams, who were 0-21 at that juncture. In the second overtime, the Bantams built a four-point lead on their second 3-pointer of the game by
Melissa Whitmore, and Vick scored the final four points of the contest for the final margin, 72-64. Trinity moves on to the semifinals for the third consecutive championship.Â

The Bantams controlled the rebounding column, 52-39, and had the edge off the bench, 9-7, while the Jumbos held serve in the paint, 32-28. Trinity shot 22-of-75 (29.3%) from the field, including a season-low 2-of-23 (8.7%) from three-point range, and a season-high from the foul line, connecting on 26-of-30 (86.7%) of their attempts. Tufts converted 21-of-63 (33.3%) from the floor, 2-of-16 (12.5%) from beyond the arc, and 20-of-31 from the foul line.

The Bantams will face second-seeded Colby College in the NESCAC Women's Basketball Championship Semifinals, hosted at Bowdoin College, on Saturday, March 1. Tip-off is slated for 4:30 p.m.
