Fourth Quarter Spurt Leads #8 Bowdoin Past Men's Lacrosse, 16-15

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Men's Lacrosse team was outscored, 6-3, in the fourth quarter, falling to visiting eighth-ranked Bowdoin College, 16-15, in their 2025 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) season opener at Jessee/Miller Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams open the season at 0-1, while the Polar Bears move to 1-0.

The squads combined for 10 first period goals as Bowdoin grabbed an early 2-1 lead from tallies by Patrick Fitzgerald and Chris Berry. The Bantams rallied to even the score at 3-3 behind strikes from sophomore Miles Harvey and junior Jay Ottomanelli, but the Polar Bears outscored Trinity, 3-1, over the final five minutes to harness a 6-4 lead.

The Bantams battled back in a low scoring second period as Jake Connors, Bo Page and Colin Sullivan each found the back of the net to send the team into halftime knotted at 7-7.

Sullivan and Hayden Shin scored to help Trinity keep pace with Bowdoin at 9-9 with 7:28 to play in the third quarter. Page sandwiched a pair of goals around another strike from Harvey to give the Bantams their first lead of the game, 12-10, heading into the final quarter.

An early Bantams penalty opened the door for the Polar Bears as Bowdoin capitalized with a trio of goals during the two-minute man-advantage to regain a 13-12 lead. A tally from Sullivan trimmed the gap to 14-13, but Bowdoin added two goals to rebuild a 16-13 lead. Trinity mounted on final effort as Page and Ottomanelli scored with just over a minute to play to make it 16-15, but the Bantams came up empty on their final possession.

Page led the Bantams with four goals, while Ottomanelli and Sullivan potted three goals apiece. Harvey chipped in two goals, and Page, Sullivan and Krikorian each dished out two assists.

The Polar Bears outshot the Bantams, 55-39, and held the edge in the face-off circle, 24-10. Bowdoin collected more groundballs, 33-25, during the contest. Trinity senior goalkeeper Jordan Opdahl made a game-high 18 saves, while Robert Hobbs stopped 10 shots for the Polar Bears.

The Bantams will be back in action when they travel to Skidmore College for a non-conference tilt on Tuesday, March 4.
