No. 15 Trinity Women's Lacrosse Defeats No. 13 Babson, 13-7

HARTFORD, Conn.– The 15th-ranked Trinity College women's lacrosse team secured its fourth win of the season with a 13-7 victory over visiting #13 Babson in a non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 4-3 overall, while the Beavers drop to 3-2.

Prior to the game, the Bantams dedicated the contest to their Team IMPACT member, Alice-Marie.

Trinity's offense was powered by three players netting hat tricks: junior Kaeley Zito, junior Grace Denious, and first-year Ivy Armentrout. Zito excelled on free-position attempts, converting three of four, while Denious added an assist to her scoring tally. Sophomore Kelsey Restivo and senior Brooke Kurtz each contributed a goal and two assists, while sophomore Sarah Marvin and junior Alex Lesko also found the back of the net.

For Babson, Clare Connolly led the Beavers with three goals, followed by Kathryn Blake with two, and Ellie Hilsabeck and Jessica Evans with one apiece.

The teams were deadlocked at 2-2 after the first quarter, with Armentrout and Lesko scoring for Trinity, assisted by Restivo and Kurtz. The Bantams held a 7-4 edge in shots, landing four on target.

Trinity seized momentum in the second quarter, scoring four consecutive unassisted goals. Zito started the run with a player-up goal, then struck again just 29 seconds later. Denious extended the lead at 6:21, and Zito completed her hat trick to give Trinity a 6-3 advantage heading into halftime.

The Bantams pulled away in the second half, scoring three times in the third quarter and adding four more in the final frame to seal the win. Trinity executed 12 successful clears on 13 attempts, compared to Babson's 10 of 13. The Bantams capitalized on 6-of-11 free-position shots, while the Beavers converted just 2-of-13.

In goal, sophomore Olivia Aguirre started for Trinity, making three saves and allowing three goals in the first half. Junior Ali MacDougall took over in the second half, recording five saves while conceding four goals.

Trinity returns to action on Saturday, March 29, traveling to Bates College for a NESCAC showdown at 12 p.m. in Lewiston, Maine.
