HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Softball team split a pair of games with visiting Middlebury College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) doubleheader at Trinity Softball Field Sunday afternoon. The Panthers used a seven-run inning to capture an 11-4 win in the opener, while the Bantams led wire-to-wire in a 4-1 victory in the nightcap. Trinity improves to 7-12 on the season and 2-6 in the NESCAC, while Middlebury sits at 19-9 overall and 6-4 in conference.

Game 1: Middlebury 11, Trinity 4
Following a scoreless first inning, the Panthers grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning behind an RBI groundout from Skylar Wong. Middlebury added a run on an RBI sac fly from Olivia Scholes in the third, followed by Wong scoring on an error in the fifth to make it a 3-0 game.

The Bantams rallied in the bottom of the fifth as
Lizzie Nelson drew a leadoff walk, stole second and then scored on an error to trim the gap to 3-1.
Hannah Mullaney ripped a two-run single down the third base line to knot the game at 3-3.

Middlebury regained a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth on a two-out RBI single from Olivia Fleming. The Panthers pulled away with seven runs in the top of the seventh, ignited by a solo home run from Scholes and run-scoring extra-base hits from Wong and Kristyn Carroll to push Middlebury to the 11-3 lead. Mullaney tacked on the Bantams final run of the game with an RBI single in the seventh.

Game 2: Trinity 4, Middlebury 1
The Bantams jumped on the Panthers early in the nightcap as
Kennedy Rogers turned on a fastball from Middlebury's Emily Ye and smashed a solo home run over the left field fence, giving Trinity the 1-0 lead. In the second,
Taylor Mikolajczak knocked an RBI single through the left side of the infield to bring home
Makenna True, and then
Abigail Alper lifted a two-run double to left-center to extend the Trinity lead to 4-0.

The Panthers plated their first run of the game in the top of the fifth with a two-out RBI single from Scholes to narrow the gap to 4-1.
Annie Konieczka held Middlebury to one hit over the final two innings to lock up the 4-1 win. Konieczka (3-4) logged her third complete game of the season, allowing a season-low one run on seven hits.

The Bantams will return to the diamond when they travel to Williams College for a rescheduled NESCAC doubleheader on Monday, April 12. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
