Fourth Quarter Run Lifts Conn College Over #16 Men's Lacrosse

HARTFORD, Conn. – The 16th-ranked Trinity College Men's Lacrosse squad fell to visiting Connecticut College, 10-7, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at Jessee/Miller Field at Tunsill Muldoon Stadium Wednesday night. The Bantams move to 7-3 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while the Camels sit at 5-4 on the season and 2-4 in the NESCAC.

In the fifth minute of play, Miles Harvey found the back of the net off a feed from Ottomanelli to hand Trinity a 1-0 lead. Liam Horkan evened the score with his first tally of the day, but the Bantams regained a 2-1 lead behind an Ottomanelli snipe shot from the wing with 4:11 on the clock. Horkan struck again to knot the game at 2-2 after the first period. Harvey delivered the lone goal of the second period, firing home an unassisted goal with 8:40 remaining to hand Trinity the 3-2 lead at the half.

Horkan and Cole Ronan potted back-to-back goals for the Camels to regain a 4-3 lead, but Ottomanelli beat Conn College goalkeeper Patrick Hogan five-hole to even the score at 4-4 after three quarters.

The Camels pulled away in the fourth quarter, taking a 6-4 lead behind goals from JJ Ford and Aidan McAvoy. Collin Sullivan found off a cross-field pass from Bo Page to help Trinity narrow the deficit to 6-5, but Conn rattled off four straight goals, including a trio from Horkan, to build a 10-5 advantage. Jon Krikorian added a pair of late goals from the Bantams en route to the 10-7 final.

Ottomanelli led the Bantams with four points on two goals and two assists, while Harvey and Krikorian tallied three points with two goals and an assist each. Trinity keeper Jordan Opdahl stopped a game-high 17 shots, while Hogan made three saves in relief of Will Vivian who stopped two shots in the first half.

The Camels edged the Bantams in the shot column, 40-38, and controlled ground balls, 27-15, and the faceoff circle, 21-10.

The Bantams will be back on the field when they travel to Hamilton College (3-6, 1-5 NESCAC) for a NESCAC clash Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
