Marvin and Restivo Shine with Hat Tricks in Trinity’s 10-8 Win Over Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The 15th-ranked Trinity College women's lacrosse team secured its third consecutive victory, defeating host Connecticut College 10-8 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Bantams improve to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play, while the Camels drop to 6-5 (1-5 NESCAC).

Trinity's offense was powered by standout performances from Sarah Marvin and Kelsey Restivo, who each recorded a hat trick. Marvin matched her career high with three goals, marking her season best, while Restivo notched her fifth game of the season with three or more goals. Kaeley Zito added two goals, while Alex Lesko and Sydney Aitkenhead each found the back of the net once.

Aitkenhead also made a defensive impact, registering a career-high four caused turnovers. Restivo contributed two assists, while Brooke Kurtz led the team with three.

In goal, Olivia Aguirre and Ali Macdougall split time for the Bantams. Aguirre started the game, making seven saves in the first half, while Macdougall took over in the second, stopping two shots. Both goalkeepers allowed four goals apiece.

Trinity led 5-4 at halftime after netting two goals in the first quarter (Zito and Marvin) and three in the second (Marvin, Zito, and Restivo). The Bantams edged the Camels in shots, 17-16, in the opening half and held a slight advantage in draw controls (6-5).

A dominant third quarter saw Trinity extend its lead with a 4-0 run, pushing the score to 9-4 entering the final frame. Connecticut College battled back with four goals in the fourth, including three unanswered to close the gap, but the Bantams held strong to secure the 10-8 win.

The Camels finished with a 29-27 advantage in shots and led 23-18 in ground balls. However, Trinity controlled the draw, winning 12 of 22 faceoffs and converting both of its free-position opportunities (2-for-2).

The Bantams return to action on Saturday, April 5, when they host Hamilton College in another NESCAC showdown at 12 p.m. on Robin L. Sheppard Field.
