WATERVILLE, Maine – The sixth-seeded Trinity College Women's Lacrosse team fell to host third-seeded Colby College, 9-8, in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament Quarterfinals at Bill Alfond Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams sit at 8-8 on the season, while the Mules move to 14-2 overall.

The Bantams wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as
Kelsey Restivo found the back of the net off a feed from
Alex Lesko to hand Trinity the 1-0 lead less than two minutes into action. The Colby offense kicked into gear with six straight goals over the next 23 minutes of action, featuring a pair of goals from Kins Helmer and Ainsley Dion to build a 6-1 advantage with 5:11 remaining in the second quarter. With less than 20 seconds on the clock,
Grace Denious potted an unassisted goal to narrow the gap to 6-2 at the half.

Restivo found Denious for her second goal of the day early in the third quarter to make it a 6-3 game. Trailing 8-3 with less than five minutes to play in the third,
Lily Iler tallied an unassisted goal to put Trinity within four goals.

With 13:29 remaining in the game,
Sarah Marvin scored off a dish from Denious, who would register her third goal of the game four minutes later to trim the deficit to 8-6. Julia Jardina got Colby back on the board less than a minute later to regain a 9-6 lead.
Kaeley Zito fired home her first goal of the game with just over three minutes to play, followed by another strike from Marvin one minute later to put the Bantams within a goal, 9-8. The Bantams had a couple of late chances but were thwarted by turnovers, and then a final shot from Zito was wide of the net, making it a 9-8 final.

Denious paced the Bantams offense with a team-high four points with three goals and an assist. Restivo added three points with a goal and two helpers, while Marvin had two points with two goals. The Mules edged the Bantams in the shot column, 26-23, and controlled groundballs, 18-8, and draw controls, 13-7. Trinity goalkeeper
