Bantams Best Pride in Three

Hartford, Conn. – The Bantams kept their undefeated streak alive with a commanding 3-0 victory over visiting Regis College on Friday evening in Ray Oosting Gymnasium. With the win, Trinity Women's Volleyball improves to 5-0 on the season, while the Pride fall to 2-5.

What Happened:

  • Trinity opened the match in dominant fashion, taking the first set 25-14 behind a blistering .450 hitting percentage, while holding the Pride to just .048.
  • In the second set, the Bantams surged ahead with an 18-9 lead—their largest of the frame. Regis responded with a late push, narrowing the gap to 23-20. Trinity held firm, closing out the set 25-21 to take a 2-0 match lead.
  • Regis came out strong in the third, building a 10-7 advantage. A pair of service aces by Emma Ewart, a kill from Ellie Gordon, and two Regis errors helped Trinity flip the score to 12-10. After a timeout Bantams continued their success going ahead 16-10. The Pride would add eight more points before Trinity sealing the set and match, 25-22.

Bantam Leaders:

  • Ellie Gordon recorded her third straight match with double-digit kills, finishing with a strong hitting percentage above .400 for the second consecutive outing.
  • Catalina Hendricks led the team with 13 assists, while Caroline Howell added 8 and senior Scarlett Jago contributed 6.
  • Jago also led the defense with 10 digs, her second double-digit dig performance of the season.
  • Annette Schlunk and Emma Ewart each delivered three service aces to pace Trinity from the line.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Trinity out-hit Regis with 33 kills and a .232 hitting percentage, compared to 18 kills and a .035 clip for the Pride.
  • The Bantams held a slight edge in service aces (8-6), despite committing 11 service errors to Regis' 8.
  • The Pride recorded the only solo block of the match, while Trinity notched 4 block assists to Regis' zero.
  • Trinity led in both digs (40-29) and assists (32-16).

Up Next:

  • Trinity returns to action on Saturday, September 13, for a home tri-match against Springfield College and UMass-Boston. The Bantams open play at 12 PM against the Springfield Pride.
  • This marks the seventh all-time meeting between Trinity and Springfield, with the Bantams seeking their first win in the series.
