Men's Soccer Falls at #6 Williams, 4-1

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Trinity College Men's Soccer team suffered a 4-1 defeat to host sixth-ranked Williams College in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Cole Field Saturday afternoon. The Bantams move to 2-2-1 on the season and 0-2-1 in NESCAC play, while the Ephs rise to 4-0-2 and 3-0-1 in conference play.
 
What Happened:
  • With 36:28 on the clock, the Bantams were whistled for foul in their box, resulting in a penalty shot for Williams. Henry Kirkman placed a shot past Trinity senior keeper Nate Dyott to hand the Ephs a 1-0 lead.
  • At the 16:55 mark of the first half, Williams extended the lead to 2-0 on a tally from Spencer Mix.
  • The Ephs potted an insurance goal with 19:23 remaining as Griffin Labonski found the back of the net of a corner kick from Andrew Coelho to make it a 3-0 game.
  • Trailing 4-0 with less than seven minutes to play, Silas Lawrence converted off a feed from Ryan Carey to deliver the Bantams lone goal of the contest.
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • The Bantams outshot the Ephs, 19-14, during the contest, while Williams held the edge in shots on goal, 9-8.
  • The Ephs held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks, but the Ephs were hit with more fouls, 21-13.
  • Dyott made a season-high five saves for Trinity, while first-year Aleix Anglada notched five saves and classmate Henry Fireman made two saves in relief.
 
Up Next:
  • The Bantams will be back in action when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State for a non-conference game on Saturday, September 27 at 4:00 p.m.
  • All-time, Trinity owns a 21-8-1 record against the Warriors, dating back to their first meeting in 1984.
