Trinity Tops Southern Maine, Falls in Five to UMass Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Trinity College volleyball team split its non-conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon, earning a 3-1 victory over the University of Southern Maine before dropping a hard-fought 3-2 decision to host UMass Dartmouth. The Bantams move to 9-4 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 4-11 and the Corsairs improve to 10-6 overall.

What Happened vs. UMass Dartmouth

  • Trinity fell in a five-set thriller to the Corsairs, trading sets throughout the match. The Bantams took the first (25-12) and third (25-23) but dropped the second (26-28), fourth (20-25), and deciding fifth (13-15).
  • Statistically, Trinity held the edge across several categories, finishing with more kills (65-58), assists (62-57), blocks (9-8), and digs (116-104). Both sides served up five aces.
  • Scarlett Jago led all players with a season-high 42 digs.
  • Emma Ewart recorded her second double-double of the year with 13 kills and 11 digs.
  • Maya Hall paced Trinity with 20 kills and added four blocks, matching Ellie Gordon, who also had four.
  • Chloe Gentile chipped in six blocks.
  • Catalina Hendricks dished out 27 assists, bringing her total to 54 on the day.
  • For the Corsairs, Olivia Seutter posted a team-high 20 kills, while Aleek Kuot added 12 kills and two assists. Maddie Carter led with six blocks, and Skye Peters handed out a match-high 36 assists to go with 15 digs.
What Happened vs. Southern Maine
  • The Bantams opened the day with a four-set win over the Huskies, taking the match 25-15, 25-16, 22-25, 25-15. Trinity dominated statistically, outpacing Southern Maine in kills (54-29), assists (51-26), aces (14-12), digs (63-42), and blocks (9-2).
  • Maggie Barnes tallied a season-high 13 kills.
  • Ellie Gordon also finished with 13 kills.
  • Hendricks dished out 27 assists, while Caroline Howell added 17 assists and nine digs.
  • Jago registered a match-high 15 digs and four assists.
  • Hall led all players with five blocks.
  • For the Huskies, Taylor Joyal finished with 12 kills, while Kylee Eubanks-Hemme added six kills. Reese Helisek distributed a team-best 21 assists.
