Bantams Tame AMCATS, 7-0 in Home Opener

Hartford, Conn. — Six different Bantams found the back of the net as the Trinity College women's soccer team rolled to a 7–0 victory over Anna Maria College in its non-conference home opener on Wednesday evening. First year Addie Covey led the way with two goals, while first year Maggie Hyder, senior Sarah Kenney, sophomore Kyra Charette, first year Makena Hammond, and sophomore Lauren Hoh each added one.

The win marked Trinity's first of the season, while the AMCATS dropped to 0–2. The Bantams return to action on Saturday at 11 a.m., hosting Bates College in their New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opener.

Trinity struck early, netting four goals in the first half. Hyder opened the scoring with her first career goal, a powerful strike from just outside the penalty arc that glanced off the keeper's gloves into the top-right corner. At the 15-minute mark, Kenney doubled the lead with a header off an Emma Almoney corner. Minutes later, Elena Lindonen forced a turnover and drove the ball down the baseline before feeding Covey for a one-touch finish inside the six-yard box. Charette capped the first-half surge with a top-shelf strike off a pinpoint pass from Iva Carton, giving the Bantams a commanding 4–0 lead at the break.

The Bantams kept the pressure on after halftime. First-year Hammond notched her first collegiate goal, beating a defender for a clean finish from inside the 18. Hoh followed with a breakaway tally to make it 6–0, and Covey closed out the scoring with her second of the night to seal the dominant non-conference win.

"Tonight's game was a great way to start the season. We scored a few beautiful goals and it was an outstanding team win," said head coach Rachael Shroeder.

Trinity outshot Anna Maria 28–1, including 15 shots on goal, and finished with five corner kicks.
