#1 Men's Basketball Tips Ephs, 73-57

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – In the 100th meeting between Trinity and Williams, the top-ranked Bantams defeated the host Ephs, 73-57, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) tilt at Chandler Athletic Center Saturday afternoon. The Bantams rise to 14-0 overall and 2-0 in the NESCAC, while the Ephs dip to 10-4 on the season and 0-2 in conference.
 
What Happened:
  • Leading 6-5 after the opening five minutes, the Bantams began to create separation as Paul Ippolito and Samuel Norris knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to put Trinity ahead 12-7 with 13:07 on the clock.
  • Williams closed the gap to 13-10, but Trinity rallied with 10 unanswered points, including five points from Jared Berry, to regain a 23-10 advantage.
  • The Ephs chipped away at the deficit with a 15-7 run to set the score at 30-25 with 4:06 on the clock. Norris added three points down the stretch to give Trinity a 39-31 lead heading into the break.
  • Williams maintained momentum in the second half, utilizing a 8-2 run behind three-pointers from Aidan Yates and Jackson Rein, to pull within a possession, 41-39, with 17:49 to play.
  • Leading 47-46 with 14:24 on the clock, the Bantams put the Ephs away with a 20-0 run over the next seven minutes, featuring a barrage of three-pointers from Henry Vetter, Norris, and Drew Lazarre, to extend the advantage to 67-46. Jarrel Okorougo chipped in three points late to halt any momentum for Williams, wrapping up the 73-57 win.

  • The Bantams shot 42.9% (27-of-63) from the field, including 36% (9-of-25) from three-point, and 76.9% (10-of-13) from the foul line.
  • Williams connected on 38% (19-of-50) from the floor, 22.2% (6-of-27) from beyond the arc, and 86.7% (13-of-15) from the free throw stripe.

  • Vetter notched 13 points with six rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal, while Norris racked up career-highs with 12 points and eight rebounds.
  • Lazarre added nine points, four steals, three rebounds and two assists, and Berry chipped in eight points.
  • Vetter paced the Bantams offense with a game-high 20 points, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor, with four rebounds and three steals.
  • Lazarre tallied 15 points with three rebounds, three steals and two assists, while Jared Berry added nine points and eight rebounds.
  • E.J. Summers led the Ephs with 17 points and three rebounds, Rein had nine points and four rebounds, while Yates and Solomon Marshall recorded eight points apiece.
