CLINTON, N.Y. – The 18
th-ranked Trinity College Women's Basketball team used a fourth-quarter rally and strong overtime performance to defeat host Hamilton College, 87-82, in overtime, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at the Margaret Bundy Scott Field House Saturday afternoon. The Bantams rise to 13-4 overall, and 2-1 in the NESCAC, while the Continentals slide to 9-8 and 1-2 on the season.
What Happened:
- The Bantams secured a 7-4 lead to open play behind buckets from Lucy Dorion and Maya Carnes. The sides exchanged the lead to close the first quarter with Trinity using four points from Fiona Neilon to hold an 18-15 lead.
- Carnes and Dorion sandwiched layups around a three-pointer from Avery Marzo to push the Bantams advantage to 25-21 midway through the second quarter. The Continentals regained control of the scoreboard with a 10-2 run over the next three minutes to take a 31-27 lead. Down 31-29 with less than three minutes on the clock, Marlo Simms poured in seven straight points to give Trinity a 36-33 lead at the half.
- Five points from Dorion helped the Bantams maintain a 43-37 edge, but Hamilton responded behind six points from Taylor Lambo to capture a 48-45 lead with 3:43 on the clock. A jumper from Marzo closed the deficit to 53-52 until a five-point spurt pushed the Continentals lead to 58-52 heading to the fourth quarter.
- Trailing 60-54, Trinity used a barrage of three-pointers from Marzo, Carnes and Melissa Whitmore to grab a 68-62 lead with 4:48 left in regulation. Tied 70-70 with 1:43 on the clock, the sides went shot-for-shot to force overtime knotted at 74-74.
- Play was tight to begin the bonus period as the teams traded the lead three times with a jumper from Marzo trimming the Hamilton lead to 80-79 with 2:05 to play. The Bantams dominated the final minutes using a three-point play from Whitmore and buckets from Marzo and Carnes to seal the 87-82 win.

- The Bantams connected on 45.5% (35-of-77) from the field, including a season-high 55.6% (10-of-18) from three-point range, and 70% (7-of-10) from the foul line.
- The Continentals shot 48.5% (33-of-68) from the floor, 35.7% (5-of-14) from beyond the arc, and 57.9% (11-of-19) from the free throw line.

- Five Bantams registered double figures in points, led by Marzo with a game-high 23 points, shooting a career-high 5-of-9 from three-point, with five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
- Carnes logged a career-high 17 points, connecting on a career-high 7-of-13 from the floor, with three rebounds and two assists.
- Dorion posted 14 points, three rebounds, and three assists, Simms added 13 ppoints with seven rebounds and three assists, and Whitmore chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds in the win.
- Lambo recorded a double-double with a team-high 22 points and a game-high 12 rebounds to lead the Continentals.
- Kendall Harris totaled 12 points, nine rebounds and a game-high eight assists, while Maggie Kernodle and Abby Schwoebel added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
