AMHERST, Mass. – The Trinity College women's basketball team fell to Amherst College, 61–50, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup Friday evening. The Bantams move to 12–5 overall and 1–2 in the league, while the Mammoths improve to 10–4 and 1–1 in conference play.

Amherst took a 16–12 lead after the opening quarter, despite scoring being spread across the Bantams' lineup with buckets from Maya Carnes, Marlo Simms, Avery Marzo, and Melissa Whitmore, along with four points from forward Samantha Slofkiss.

Trinity added another 12 points in the second frame to reach 24 at the break, trailing the Mammoths 35–24. Slofkiss and Whitmore led the Bantams with seven points apiece, each knocking down a three.

The Bantams outworked Amherst on the glass in the third, posting 11 points, 13 rebounds, and five steals while going 100 percent at the free throw line, trimming the deficit to 43–35 entering the fourth.

Trinity opened the final quarter with an 8–3 run to pull within three, 46–43, highlighted by six points from Marzo, including a pair of technical free throws assessed to Amherst's Brielle Renwick.

Despite a 15-point fourth quarter, the Bantams were unable to overtake Amherst as the Mammoths closed out the 61–50 victory.

Amherst's Laura Mendell posted a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds, while teammates Pahl (11) and Soenens (10) also scored in double figures.
