Bantams Force Overtime in 3–3 Battle, Drop Shootout to Ephs

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bantams skated their way to a dramatic 3–3 overtime draw before narrowly falling, 1–0, in a best-of-three shootout to visiting Williams College on Saturday afternoon. The result closed out Trinity's two-game New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) weekend series with the Ephs. The Bantams move to 6–8–1 overall (2–5–1 NESCAC), while the Ephs stand at 10–1–3 (3–1–2 NESCAC).

How It Happened:
  • The Bantams came out flying, striking early when Lillian Cassidy buried a shot over the left shoulder of the Ephs' goalkeeper on a 2v1 rush. Sophomore Nani Keyes drew her defender wide to open the lane, setting up Cassidy's one-timer for a 1–0 lead.
  • Just minutes later, Meena Al-Kadiri redirected Taylor Berman's top-shelf attempt down and in, doubling the Bantams' advantage to 2–0 less than seven minutes into play.
  • Williams answered at 9:37 on a power play, when Annie Gallagher knocked home a rebound following Zoe Rosenberg's initial bid, cutting Trinity's edge to 2–1 heading into the second period.
  • The Ephs surged late in the middle frame, netting a pair to seize a 3–2 lead. Lucie Bond evened the score with a power-play strike, before Jaelyn Kaiver gave Williams its first lead at 18:29.
  • The Bantams refused to back down. With a power-play opportunity of their own, Cassidy Yaun capitalized, cashing in on a feed from Al-Kadiri from the high slot to knot things at 3–3 with under ten minutes to play.
  • Trinity goaltender Madeline Carter came up clutch in the final minute, flashing her glove on a point-blank save to preserve the tie and send the contest to overtime.
  • Both teams traded chances through a tense extra frame, with Carter and Williams' Eva Bentley stonewalling three shots apiece to push the game into the decisive shootout.
  • In the shootout, Bantams Gabby GrossSophie Rousell, and Mikayla Murray couldn't find the back of the net, while Williams' Skyler Moore sealed it on the Ephs' third attempt, tipping the lamp and securing the 1–0 shootout edge.
