DeVaux Selected for Athletic Communicators Emerging Elite Program

| By:

HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College Assistant Athletic Communications Director Evelyn DeVaux has been selected to participate in the 2026 NCAA Division III Athletic Communicators Emerging Elite Program, joining a national cohort of 30 professionals chosen for the three-day leadership and professional development experience.

The third cohort of the annual program will be held December 6-8 at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Indiana. Athletic communications professionals from across Division III will be brought together for interactive sessions focused on leadership, team management, collaboration exercises, professional growth, and the evolving landscape of collegiate athletic communications.

Launched in 2024, the Emerging Elite Program was developed in partnership with the Division III Sports Information Directors Association (D3SIDA) and College Sports Communicators (CSC) to support the next generation of Division III athletic communications leaders.

Each year, 30 participants are chosen to receive full funding to attend the program, along with a complimentary one-time registration to the College Sports Communicators Convention the following June.

"I am incredibly honored to be one of 30 young professionals selected to participate in the Emerging Elite Program. Athletics have always been a major part of my life, whether as a student-athlete or working behind the scenes. Having the opportunity to continue growing as a woman in sports, further develop my skills, and bring new ideas and knowledge back to Trinity Athletics is an exciting next step in my professional career. I am eager to learn from and connect with other professionals who share the same passion for collegiate athletics," said DeVaux.

DeVaux enters her fourth season with Trinity Athletic Communications in 2026-27, having joined the department as Assistant Athletic Communications Director in January 2024. Throughout her time with the Bantams, DeVaux has continued to expand her role within the department, gaining experience in nearly every aspect of collegiate athletic communications.

In her current role, DeVaux helps oversee the department's day-to-day operations while supporting media relations and communications efforts for Trinity's 30 varsity programs. Her responsibilities include website management, statistics, live broadcasts, photography and video coordination, social media, press releases, game-day staffing, championship coverage, and student-worker supervision.

Beginning in the 2026-27 academic year, the department transitioned to a more evenly divided sports coverage structure between DeVaux and Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Communications Chris Kendrick. Prior to the adjustment, DeVaux had gained experience covering Trinity's 30 varsity programs, providing her with an extensive background across the department's sports coverage and game-day operations.

Throughout her time at Trinity, DeVaux has played an integral role in the department's postseason and championship coverage, including several NCAA Division III national championship events.

During the 2023-24 academic year, DeVaux served as a lead athletic communications contact throughout the Trinity Men's Basketball team's historic NCAA Tournament run, which included hosting the opening rounds and sectional games before traveling with the Bantams to Indianapolis for their Final Four appearance. Shortly after, she returned to Hartford to serve as the lead sports information contact for the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Frozen Four, hosted at Koeppel Community Sports Center, where Trinity finished as the national runner-up.

DeVaux continued her championship responsibilities as the lead sports information contact for the 2025 NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship, hosted at Robin L. Sheppard Field, including the 2026 first and second round of the NCAA DIII Women's Lacrosse tournament. She also served as Tournament Director for the 2024 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men's Ice Hockey Championship, 2026 NESCAC Men's Golf Championship and is slated to lead communications efforts for the 2027 NESCAC Women's Golf Championship. DeVaux will also be the lead for the 2026 DIII NCAA Cross Country Mideast Regional Championship in November hosted at Wickham Park, the Bantams home course.

Beyond championship coverage, DeVaux has taken on an expanded leadership role in the department's student-worker development, social media presence, and visual content production. She has helped strengthen Trinity Athletics' digital presence through consistent branding, expanded video coverage, and increased student-athlete recognition across the department's platforms.

DeVaux has also grown into a mentor and supervisor for the department's student workers, overseeing hiring, scheduling, and training in statistics, writing, game-day operations, and other areas of athletic communications.

Kristen Noone, Deputy Athletic Director / Senior Woman Administrator at Trinity commented, "We were excited to nominate Evelyn DeVaux for this selective program. Since joining us in 2024, Ev immediately leaned in to take the lead role for a period of time that was critical to several teams' success in the post-season that year.  She is always ready and willing to step in and help where needed.  I am looking forward to this professional development experience for Ev and thrilled for our student-athletes and coaches who will benefit from her growth and learning from the program."

In the spring of 2026, DeVaux was recognized with Trinity Athletics' Bantam Award, an honor donated to the College by Raymond A. Montgomery, Class of 1925, recognizing a non-student who has made a significant contribution to Trinity's athletic program.

Prior to joining Trinity, DeVaux served as the Sports Information Director at Elms College from August 2022 through December 2023, where she gained experience overseeing athletic communications operations of 15 varsity sports.

DeVaux graduated from Elms College in 2021 with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Marketing and a minor in Coaching. During her time at Elms, she was a four-year member of the varsity field hockey team and served as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). In her senior year, DeVaux was selected as a NCAA Division III Women of the Year nominee. She also gained experience in collegiate athletics through an internship with the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) as a Student Specialist in 2020 and interned with the Elms Sports Information Department from 2018-2021.
