HARTFORD, Conn –– The Trinity College Women's Lacrosse Team defeated Springfield College 13-5 in a non-conference matchup Wednesday Night on Robin L. Sheppard Field. Stifling defense and a well-rounded offensive attack led the Bantams to their first 4-0 start since 2019.
Game Summary

st Quarter
- An early caused turnover by Sydney Aitkenhead led to the opening goal just a minute into the contest, as Grace Denious waltzed past her defender.
- A few plays later, Emily Ambrozy stopped the Springfield break before starting the counterattack and finding Kaeley Zito, who hit Kelsey Restivo in stride for an early 2-0 lead.
- Within another minute, Maggie Slimbaugh found an angle to draw the free position, where she went five-hole for another Bantam goal.
- Springfield responded with a free position goal of their own to cut the lead to 3-1.
- Trinity responded just 40 seconds later as Charlotte Troy attacked the crease on a downhill drive for another goal.
- On the ensuing man-up possession Troy found a cutting Alex Lesko who extended the lead 5-1.

nd Quarter
- Denious netted her second goal, going five hole on a free position, but Claire Ognibene answered for the Pride keeping the difference at four.
- Ivy Armentrout followed suit and went five-hole on a free position for her first goal of the season.
- Lily Acerra knifed past three defenders for a highlight-worthy goal, as the Trinity defense hounded Springfield and carried an 8-2 lead going into half.

rd Quarter
- Zito kept the attack going with her first goal off a free position. The Pride cut the deficit to 9-3, as Ognibene slipped past the Bantam defense for her second goal with just over five minutes remaining.
- Zito stole back the spotlight a minute later with her second free position goal, and a slicing Caroline Lally scored off a feed from Restivo to make it 11-3 going into the home stretch.

th Quarter
- Karenna Chader stepped in net for the Bantams to finish off the game, while the Pride turned to Cedar Conrad.
- Springfield capitalized on a free position early, but a sneaky Lally found space off a dish from Denious to push the lead to 12-4 with ten minutes to go.
- Chader redeemed herself with a stick save on a Springfield free position before igniting the Bantam break. Acerra decided not to settle and attacked the net for her second of the day, sealing a 13-5 victory for Trinity.
Notable Performances
- Senior captain Grace Denious recorded her 100th career point alongside a career-high five caused turnovers.
- The Bantams had nine goal scorers including four players that tallied two goals: Zito, Lally, Denious, Acerra.
- On defense, Hicks, Embrozy, and Zito each generated two turnovers.
- Aitkenhead scooped up four ground balls while Kierstead, Restivo, Hicks, and Hark registered three apiece.
- MacDougall and Chader combined for 8 saves and the win.
