PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Trinity College Baseball team added two more victories during their Florida run, defeating Concordia-Wisconsin, 6-5, and Grinnell College, 21-4, to improve to 7-1 on the season.
What Happened (vs. Concordia-Wisconsin):
- Tyler Bernstein knocked a one-out single, stole second and third, and then scored on an RBI triple from Andrew Park to give the Bantams a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- In the top of the fourth, Aidan Stevenson plated Dylan Schnitzer with an RBI single to centerfield to make it 2-0. Two batters later, Timmy Domizio launched a three-run home run to expand the Trinity advantage to 5-0.
- Concordia rallied in the bottom of the sixth, evening the score with a five-run inning. The Falcons brought in two runs on a HBP and a base on balls, followed by RBI single from Brandon McCray and a sac fly from Mick Vagner to help knot the game at 5-5.
- With one out in the top of the ninth, Domizio singled and then scored from first on an RBI single from Luis Saldivia to send Trinity to the 6-5 win.
Inside the Boxscore (vs. Concordia-Wisconsin)
- The Bantams scored six runs on ten hits, while the Falcons brought home five runs on seven hits.
- Domizio led the way at the dish, going 2-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored. Park and Schnitzer added two hits apiece.
- Brendan Grady tossed five scoreless innings for Trinity, scattering four hits with a season-high six strikeouts.
- Andruw Perez (1-0) earned the win in two innings of relief work, while Tyler Fahey logged his first save of the season.
What Happened (vs. Grinnell):
- The Bantams plated two runs in the first inning as Bernstein belted a leadoff home run, and then Aidan Stern raced home on a passed ball.
- Grinnell rallied on an RBI sac fly from Stuart Cash in the third, and then Connor Goodson stole home in the fourth to knot the game at 2-2.
- Trinity opened the game up in the bottom of the fourth as Stevenson blasted a two-run home run, followed by a two-run single from Bernstein to rebuild a 6-2 lead. Adam Niman trotted home on a wild pitch to set the score at 7-2.
- The Bantams erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the fifth, beginning with a RBI single from Stevenson. Pete Beisel knocked a pinch-hit two-run home run, and then Bernstein brought home Saldivia on an RBI single to give Trinity an 11-2 advantage. Schnitzer and Theodore McLaughin tacked on RBI singles, followed by a two-run double from Domizio as the lead swelled to 15-2.
- Leading 15-3 in the sixth, the Bantams delivered their final blows on a two-run double from Jake Goldshore and a two-run single from Saldivia enroute to the 21-4 victory.
Inside the Boxscore (vs. Grinnell):
- The Bantams registered a season-high 21 runs on a season-high 19 hits, while the Pioneers tallied four runs on four hits.
- Bernstein paced the Bantams at the dish, going 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and two runs scored.
- Stevenson went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Schnitzer, Saldivia, and Domizio each posted two hits and two runs scored.
- On the hill, Quinn Sotero allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit in 3.2 innings of work.
