Bantams Snap No.18 Thoroughbreds' Streak, 8-4 Final

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College men's lacrosse team handed No. 18 Skidmore College its first loss of the season, snapping the Thoroughbreds' seven-game winning streak with an 8-4 victory on Wednesday evening at Jessee/Miller Field.

The Bantams improve to 5-3 overall, while Skidmore falls to 7-1.

How It Happened

  • Trinity struck first when Conley Bohan, positioned behind the net, found Miles Harvey at the 20-yard line. Harvey finished with an underhand shot to give the Bantams an early 1-0 lead. Skidmore answered just two minutes later, as Joseph Kilcommons evened the score.
  • In the closing seconds of the opening quarter, Harvey netted his second goal of the game following a successful Trinity clear. Rory McAloon delivered the pass, and a well-timed screen gave Harvey space to fire an overhand shot into the bottom-right corner, putting Trinity ahead 2-1 heading into the second quarter.
  • Skidmore applied pressure in the second frame, registering nine shots with five on goal, but goalkeeper Davis Ike stood tall, turning away every attempt. The Bantams pulled away offensively, with goals from Billy Gerne, Andrew Finn, and Bo Page to build a 5-1 lead at halftime. Assists on those goals were credited to Jake Connors, Bo Page, and Jay Ottomanelli.
  • The Thoroughbreds opened the second half scoring with 9:50 remaining in the third quarter, as Conor Geier drove toward the crease and slipped a shot past Ike to make it 5-2.
  • Trinity responded with a strong finish to the quarter, fueled by Bo Page. His first goal of the period came after Andrew Finn picked up a groundball just before the restraining line and quickly moved the ball ahead, setting up Page for a one-on-one opportunity with Skidmore goalkeeper Marc Gadbois. Page finished low for Trinity's sixth goal.
  • Page struck again in a man-down situation later in the quarter. Following a successful clear, Carter Barford pushed the ball upfield, drawing the defender and freeing Page for another low finish. The shorthanded goal extended Trinity's lead to 7-2 heading into the final quarter.
  • In the fourth, Skidmore added two goals, but Page capped his standout performance with his fourth goal of the game during a man-up opportunity, sealing the 8-4 victory.
  • Ike anchored the Bantams defensively, recording a season-high 17 saves and holding Skidmore to a season-low four goals.
