DUDLEY, Mass. – The Trinity College Baseball team exchanged the lead eight times in a slugfest with Nichols College, capturing a 19-15 win over the Bison at the Nichols College Baseball Field Wednesday afternoon. The Bantams rise to 18-7 on the season, while the Bison slide to 14-12 overall.
What Happened:
- Nichols grabbed the opening lead of the contest, plating three runs in the bottom of the first on a solo home run from Jack Raymond and RBI knocks from Ryan Keating and Kyle Birks.
- Trinity responded with a sac fly from William Sawyer in the top of the second, along with an RBI double from Aidan Stevenson, a sac fly from Dylan Schnitzer and a solo blast from Timmy Domizio in the third to take a 4-3 lead.
- Keating belted a solo homer in the third to even the game, and then two runs touched home on a passed ball and wild pitch to put Nichols ahead 6-4. The Bantams used a five-run fourth inning, featuring RBI singles from Schnitzer, Domizio and Luis Saldivia to push Trinity to a 9-6 advantage.
- After knotting the game at 9-9 in the fifth, Keating brought home two runs on a double to left field, regaining an 11-9 edge for Nichols. In the top of the sixth, Trinity capitalized on a Nichols error, hit by pitch and a wild pitch to take a 13-11 lead. The Bison answered in the home half of the sixth with a two-run double from Tyler Ladouceur and an RBI groundout from Andrew Rocca to pull ahead 14-13.
- Trinity took the lead for good in the eighth as Tyler Bernstein launched a two-run homer, Aidan Stern scored on a balk, and then Sawyer and Pete Beisel scored on errors in the ninth to send Trinity to the 19-15 victory.
Inside the Boxscores:
- Trinity cranked out 19 runs on 17 hits, including seven extra-base hits with five doubles and two home runs. Nichols plated 15 runs on 13 hits with four errors.
- Domizio, Saldivia and Sawyer all tallied three hits, while Domizio and Sawyer drove in two runs and Domizio scored four times.
- Bernstein and Stern went 2-for-5 with two runs batted in, while Bernstein scored three times and Stern touched home twice. Stevenson recorded 2 RBIs and two runs scored on two hits.
- Domizio and Saldivia added two stolen bases, while Bernstein swiped one bag in the win.
- Andrew Gabriel (1-0) earned his first victory of the season in relief, tossing a scoreless seventh inning, and Tyler Fahey collected his third save of the season in two innings of work to close out the victory.

- The Bantams will be back on the diamond when they travel to Colby College (16-8, 4-2 NESCAC) for a three-game NESCAC set, beginning Friday, April 17 at 4:00 p.m.
