Park Homers Twice To Lead Baseball Past Colby, 7-4

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Trinity College Baseball team moved into sole possession of the top of the East Division with a 7-4 victory over Colby College in the first game of a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) series at Coombs Field Friday afternoon. The Bantams improve to 19-9 overall and 5-2 in NESCAC play, while the Mules slide to 17-9 and 4-3 in conference.
 
What Happened:
  • The Bantams took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first behind an RBI sac fly from Aidan Stevenson. The Mules tied the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI sac fly from Tony Silva.
  • Trinity pulled ahead with an RBI double from Luis Saldivia in the fourth, followed by a two-run home run from Andrew Park in the sixth to harness a 4-1 edge. Stevenson and Dylan Schnitzer delivered RBI singles in the seventh to extend the lead to 6-1.
  • After an RBI double from Myles Gythfeld trimmed the gap to 6-2, Park answered with a solo home run in the eighth. The Mules comeback bid came up short after a solo home run from Will Burns and an RBI single from Gythfeld to set the score at 7-4.
 
Inside the Boxscore:
  • Trinity registered seven runs on eight hits, including four extra-base hits, with an error, while Colby scored four runs on 11 hits with three errors.
  • Park led the Bantams at the dish, going 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBIs and two runs scored.
  • Stevenson plated two runs, while Schnitzer and Saldivia tallied two hits apiece.
  • Domizio, Saldivia and Sawyer all tallied three hits, while Domizio and Sawyer drove in two runs and Domizio scored four times.
  • Joe Capano (3-0) picked up the victory in a near complete game effort, allowing four runs in 8.2 innings of work, matching a career-high with eight strikeouts. Tyler Fahey earned his fourth save of the season, striking out the lone batter he faced.
