WATERVILLE, Maine – The Trinity College Baseball team grabbed a pair of victories over host Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) doubleheader at Coombs Field Saturday. Trinity won the first game, 4-3, and then slugged past Colby, 7-4, in the finale. The Bantams improve to 21-7 overall and 7-2 in NESCAC play, while the Mules slide to 17-11 and 4-5 in conference.
What Happened:
- Trinity took an early lead in the opener with an RBI single from Dylan Schnitzer in the top of the first, followed by an RBI single from William Sawyer in the second to grab a 2-0 lead.
- Colby pulled ahead 3-2 in the home half of the fourth inning behind a three-run home run from Will Burns, but Sawyer plated another run with an RBI sac fly in the sixth to knot the game at 3-3.
- The Bantams threatened in the top of the ninth, but Adam Niman was left stranded on third base as the game headed to extra innings. Trinity had runners on second and third in the 10th, but it wasn't until the 12th inning where Andrew Park delivered an RBI double down the right field line, scoring Timmy Domizio and sending the Bantams to the 4-3 win in 12 innings.
- In the nightcap, Trinity jumped on the Mules with a five-run first inning. After the first three batters reached on walks, Park ripped a two-run single to left field, followed by an RBI single from Saldivia to hand the Bantams a 3-0 lead. Sawyer added an RBI sac fly, and Pete Beisel knocked an RBI single to left field handing Trinity the 5-0 advantage.
- After Colby tacked on a run in the third inning, the Bantams expanded their lead with back-to-back RBI singles from Saldivia and Brett Stone, extending the Trinity edge to 7-1. The Mules added late runs with a two-run home run from Jeb Burkhart and a sac fly from Tony Silva as Trinity wrapped up the 7-4 victory.

- The Bantams plated four runs on 11 hits with seven stolen bases, and knocked in seven runs on 11 hits with three stolen bases in game two.
- Colby scored three runs on 12 hits, and then four runs on eight hits in the finale.

- Saldivia posted five hits with two RBIs, two runs scored and three stolen bases, while Beisel added four hits and a stolen base.
- Park went 3-for-6 with a double, three RBIs, and two runs scored, Schnitzer registered two hits with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.
- Sawyer drove in three runs with a stolen base, Stone had an RBI with a stolen base, and Bernstein scored twice and stole two bases in the wins.
- Drew McGowan logged seven innings in the opener, allowing three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts, and Tyler Fahey (4-0) earned the win, allowing five hits in five innings of scoreless relief work.
- Andrew Oppenheimer (5-1) delivered a seven-inning complete game effort in the nightcap, surrendering four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.
