HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College Baseball team fell to visiting Amherst College, 16-6, in a non-conference tilt at Murren Family Field at DiBenedetto Stadium Tuesday evening. The Bantams move to 21-8, while the Mammoths are 20-9 overall.
What Happened:
- The Mammoths struck in the top of the first inning behind a two-run shot from Charlie LaFreniere and a bases loaded hit by pitch to take a 3-0 lead. Trinity answered in the home half of the inning as Aidan Stevenson blasted a two-run homer to left-center, trimming the deficit to 3-2.
- An RBI sac fly from Ben Smith in the third and an RBI single from Tyler McCord in the fourth extended the Amherst lead to 5-2. The Bantams chipped away with RBI knocks from Tyler Bernstein and Aidan Stern to set the score at 5-4 after five innings.
- The Mammoths pulled away with a six-run sixth inning, featuring a two-run single from McCord, an RBI single from Jackson Boyer and a trio of bases loaded walks, as the lead swelled to 11-4. Orridge singled in a run, Dubetsky delivered an RBI sac fly in the seventh and an RBI single in the eighth, and two runs scored on bases loaded walks to push the Mammoths to 16-4.
- In the ninth, the Bantams added two runs with an RBI triple from Adam Niman and an RBI groundout from Brett Stone to wrap the 16-6 final score.

- The Bantams plated six runs on six hits, including three extra-base hits, with two errors, while Amherst scored 16 runs on 10 hits with nine stolen bases and two errors.
- Stern tallied two hits and scored twice, while Stevenson drove in two runs and scored. Tyler Bernstein, Dylan Schnitzer, and Niman each added a hit and an RBI.
- Bantam pitchers combined for 17 walks, matching a program-record set on May 5, 2024 against Middlebury College.
