Hartford, Conn. - Sophomore goalkeeper
Emily Weedon (Wellesley, Mass.) made ten
saves to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1 win over the
Tufts University Jumbos today at Campus Field. The Bantams
improve to 9-4 overall and 4-4 in the NESCAC with their fifth
straight victory, while the Jumbos fall to 7-5 overall and 4-4 in
the league. Trinity clinches their second straight NESCAC
Championship Tournament bid.
Just over four minutes into the game, senior Erika
Maciaszczyk (Milton, Mass.) laid a perfect pass for
freshmen Jenny Ley (Warwick, R.I.) who scored her
eighth goal of the season to gave Trinity a 1-0 lead. The
game remained at 1-0 in favor of the Bantams until the second half,
when Tufts junior Ali Maxwell (Exeter, N.H.)
deflected a pass from teammate Whitney
Hardy (Truckee, Calif.) to tie the game at
1-1.
Later in the second half, junior Caitlin Prendergast
(Braintree, Mass.) scored on a header from a pass off the
foot of sophomore Caroline Washburne (Medfield,
Mass.) to give the Bantams the lead for good.
Tufts sophomore goalkeeper Hannah Jacobs (Mill Valley,
Calif.) made four saves in the game for the Jumbos.
