Hartford, Conn. - Junior forward Christine Card
(Waterbury, Conn.) scored 12 points, grabbed a season-high
16 rebounds, and blocked four shots to lead the Trinity College
Bantams to a 63-46 win over the visiting Rivier College Raiders in
women's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.
Trinity, off to its best start since the 1999-00 season, improves
to 9-0, while the Raiders drop to 6-4 on the year.
The Bantams took a 33-24 lead into halftime and never looked
back. Trinity had four players finish in double figures,
including junior co-captain Claire Arnstein (Hicksville,
N.Y.), who finished the game with 13 points, eight
rebounds and four steals. The Bantams controlled the glass,
out-rebounding the Raiders 57-43 and frustrated their opponent on
the defensive end, holding the Raiders to a 26 percent field goal
percentage in the game.
Junior Jessica Mellen (Rockland, Mass.) was a
highlight for Rivier, scoring 13 points to go along with nine
rebounds and six assists. First-year Allie Parent
(Camden, Maine) added 12 points and six rebounds for the
Raiders. First-year guards Kaitlin Ciarleglio
(Waterbury, Conn.) and Michelle Royals
(Torrington, Conn.) chipped in with 11 points apiece for
the Bantams.
Trinity travels cross-town for a matchup with St. Joseph College
this Thursday at 7 p.m.
