Hartford, Conn. - Senior tri-captain midfielder Lauren
Olsen (Cheshire, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal on a
penalty kick to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 1-0 win over
the visiting Bowdoin College Polar Bears in women's soccer action
this afternoon. Trinity improves to 5-4-3 overall and 3-3-2
in the league, while the Polar Bears drop to 7-6 overall and 3-5 in
the league. The win guarantees Trinity a spot in the NESCAC
Championship Tournament, their third straight post-season berth.
Early in the second half of a scoreless game, sophomore
Jenny Ley (Warwick, R.I.) was taken down in the
box, which gave Olsen the game-winning penalty kick try.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lily Pepper (Princeton Junction,
N.J.) made 12 saves in the game to earn the her fourth
shutout of the season. The Bantams defense has allowed just
10 goals on the year, and just three in the last four games.
Junior goalkeeper Kat Flaherty (Fairfield, Conn.)
made 12 saves in net for the Polar Bears.
