Hartford, Conn. - Senior tri-captain center Christine
Card (Waterbury, Conn.) recorded game-highs of 14 points
and eight blocked shots to lead the Trinity College Bantams to an
85-46 win over the Simmons College Sharks in women's basketball
action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity improves to
3-1, while the Sharks fall to 3-2 with their first loss in three
games.
Trinity jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first four minutes, but
found itself trailing, 12-11, at the 12-minute mark after a
three-point bucket by Shark senior tri-captain guard
Julianna Eagles (Quincy, Mass.). Trinity
outscored the Sharks, 22-4, for the remainder of the first half to
go into the break ahead, 33-16, and shot 54.1 percent from the
field in the second stanza. Bantam sophomore guard
Michelle Royals (Torrington, Conn.) scored 12
points, while junior center Molly McGlynn (Sleepy Hollow,
N.Y.) had 11 points with four rebounds, and freshman guard
Carly Napier (Pittsford, N.Y.) added 10
points. Junior guard Kristen Fahey (Cumberland,
R.I.) and sophomore guard Kaitlin Ciarleglio
(Waterbury, Conn.) each dished out six assists for the
Bantams. Sophomore guard Jessica Thomas (East
Sandwich, Mass.) notched 11 points, five rebounds, and
three assists, while freshman forward Emily Thomas
(Cheshire, Conn.) added 10 points for Simmons.
