Hartford, Conn. - Junior attackman Harper Cullen
(Rehoboth Beach, Del.) netted two goals including a
game-tying, and a game-winning goal late in the fourth period to
lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 8-6 win over the visiting
Roger Williams University Hawks. Trinity, ranked No. 19
in the nation, improves to 10-3 overall, recording their first
10-win season since 1992. The Hawks fall to 7-4 with the
loss.
The Bantams jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal from senior
Thomas Rogers (Simsbury, Conn.), an advantage that
didn't last long as it was one of seven lead changes in the
game. The Hawks found themselves on top of the see-saw battle
after senior Dave Hurley (Hanover, Mass.) scored
back-to-back fourth period goals to give the Hawks a 6-5 lead after
a Trinity penalty.
Late in the fourth, Cullen was able to tie the match at 6-6,
shifting momentum back in favor of the Bantams at the right
time. Cullen followed the crucial goal with another one,
giving the Bantams the lead for good with 4:40 seconds left in the
game. Trinity senior Zachary Trudeau (Norwell,
Mass.) put the game out of reach with a goal with 2:10
remaining.
Hurley scored three goals to lead the Hawks. Rogers finished
with two goals and sophomore Max Alderman (Sudbury,
Mass.) scored and collected two assists for the
Bantams. Senior goalkeeper Graham Fadden (New Canaan,
Conn.) had another solid game in net collecting eleven
saves for the win. Sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Roebuck
(Montgomery, N.Y.) stopped nine shots in net for the
Hawks.
