Waterville, Maine - Junior goalkeeper Emily Weedon
(Wellesley, Mass.) made nine saves and recorded a shutout,
as the visiting Trinity College Bantams posted a 0-0 tie in double
overtime against the Colby College Mules in New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this
afternoon.
Trinity College had a 7-0 advantage in shots in overtime, but
Colby goalkeeper Loni Pisani (Kanata, Canada) made four saves
during extra time. The Bantams had a 23-14 advantage in shots
for the game, but Pisani made 13 saves. Three of her four saves in
overtime were diving punches that appeared to be going over her
head. She also had another dive to knock away a shot by Trinity
freshman Heather Lyhne (Wethersfield, Conn.)
with just five seconds remaining.
Besides the saves by Pisani, Colby defender Hannah Holbrook
(Acton, Mass.) cleared away a shot headed into the goal with about
five minutes left in the second overtime session. Trinity sophomore
forward Jenny Ley (Warwick, R.I.) had gotten
free past the defense and dribbled past Pisani, but her slow shot
was cleared away by Holbrook before it could cross the goal line.
