Hartford, Conn. – Junior
Jamie Love-Nichols (Cortez, Colo.) scored the lone
goal of the game to lead the visiting Tufts University Jumbos to a
1-0 win over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action
this afternoon. The loss is Trinity's second of the
year, as the Bantams fall to 5-2-3 overall and 3-2-2 in the league,
while the Jumbos improve to 6-2-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the
conference.
Love-Nichols broke a scoreless tie early in
the second half with her second goal of the season, giving the
Jumbos all the offense they would need, as first-year goalkeeper
Kristin Wright (Austin, Texas) came up with nine
saves to earn a shutout.
Trinity senior goalkeeper Emily
Weedon (Wellesley, Mass.) started in net for the Bantams,
allowing no goals and making six stops, while junior Lily
Pepper (Princeton Junction, N.J.) finished the game for
the Bantams, allowing one goal and saving three shots in the final
45 minutes.
