Hartford, Conn. – Senior tri-captain attackman
Harper Cullen (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) and senior
Andrew Williamson (Sudbury, Mass.) each scored
twice to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 10-6 win over the
visiting Roger Williams University Hawks in men's lacrosse
action this afternoon in a steady rain at Jessee/Miller
Field. Trinity, ranked No. 8 in New England, improves
to 4-1 with its fourth straight victory, while the Hawks drop to
1-3 with their third loss in a row.
Roger Williams took a 3-0 lead over the first 10 minutes of the
game, before Cullen broke the Bantam scoring drought with 4:12 left
in the first quarter. The Bantams scored three more times in
the first, including the gamewinner by Cullen with 31 seconds on
the clock. Trinity scored twice more in the second quarter to
take a 6-3 lead, until Hawk junior midfielder Logan Roebuck
(Montgomery, N.J.) scored the first of his two goals with
just under a minute to go before the break. Trinity outscored
Roger Williams, 2-1, in each of the last two quarters to maintain a
comfortable cushion for the entire second half.
Trinity freshman attackman Rob Nogueras (Parkland,
Fla.) and Roger Williams freshman attackman Drew
Beck (Cross River, N.Y.) each added a goal and an
assist. Sophomore Peter Johnson (Riverside,
Conn.) made eight saves and Hawk junior netminder
Tyler Roebuck (Montgomery, N.J.) stopped 11
shots. Junior attackman Kevin Looby (Kansas City,
Mo.) and junior midfielder Brendan Newland
(Oakland, Calif.) each picked up five ground balls for the
Bantams, while junior middie Austin Fehringer (Rockville
Centre, N.Y.) had four ground balls for Roger Williams.
