Norton, Mass. - Trinity College senior captain attacker
Harper Cullen (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) tallied three
goals and two assists to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams
to a 14-9 victory over the Wheaton College Lyons in men's lacrosse
action this afternoon. The Lyons fell to 5-7, while the
Bantams improved to 9-6.
Trinity junior Greg Brennan (East Setauket, N.Y.)
and freshman Jeff Hebert (Cornwall, Ontario) added
a hat trick apiece, while sophomore Peter Johnson
(Riverside, Conn.) made four saves in 38:18 of relief to
notch the victory. Wheaton rushed out with the first five
goals, with three coming on special teams plays. Trinity
tallied for the first time at 9:34 of the second quarter, and
finished the half with three straight goals during a 4:33 stretch,
making the score 6-4 at halftime. The visitors finished off a
6-0 run with the first three goals of the second half, including
two in a 22-second span during the opening 45 ticks, as Trinity
took its first lead at 7-6 with 10:30 remaining in the third
quarter. Hebert and senior Andrew Williamson (Sudbury,
Mass.) each scored twice in the run. Wheaton knotted
the game with a man-up goal at 9:37, but the Bantams went back
ahead exactly one minute later. The Lyons closed to within a
point at 9-8, but Trinity ended the game on a 5-1 run, with
Cullen turning in two goals and two assists.
