Rochester, N.Y. – Senior Daniel Echavarria
(Bogota, Colombia) controlled the No. 9 match with an
11-9, 11-4, 11-6 victory to lead the visiting Trinity College
Bantams to a 6-3 win over the University of Rochester Yellowjackets
in College Squash Association (CSA) men's squash action this
afternoon. The 12-time defending National Champion
Bantams, ranked No. 1 in the nation, improve to 9-0 and extend the
longest winning streak in the history of intercollegiate varsity
sports to 233 matches. The No. 4-ranked Yellowjackets drop to
6-2. The match was the closest for Trinity this season.
The Bantams complete their upstate New York trip at No. 5-ranked
Cornell tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Trinity won at the top five spots in the lineup, but lost
five-setters at No.'s 5, 6, and 7. Trinity junior
Vikram Malhotra (Mumbai, India), ranked No. 6
nationally among individuals, posted a 3-0 triumph over No.
3-ranked Ben Fischer (Lucerne, Switzerland) at the
top spot.
