Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Senior tri-captain forward Ellery Gould (East Sandwich, Mass.) scored two goals, including the game-winner 5:07 into the first overtime, to lead the visiting Bowdoin College Polar Bears to a 3-2 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon on Campus Field. Trinity slips to 5-6-2 overall and 2-5-2 in the NESCAC, while the Polar Bears improve to 6-4-3 overall and 2-4-3 in the league.
All the scoring took place after the 60th minute, as Gould got it started with a header off a cross by freshman back Abby Einwag (Pittsburgh, Pa.) at the 60:35 mark. Trinity senior co-captain forward Jenny Ley (Warwick, R.I.) answered with a tally from fellow senior co-captain Leigh Howard (Bethany, Conn.) in the 64th minute and added an unassisted goal with 11:21 on the clock. Bear freshman midfielder Amanda Kinneston (Shelburne, Vt.) brought the visitors right back, converting on a feed by senior tri-captain forward Celeste Swain (Berkeley, Calif.) just 32 seconds later to force the overtime. Gould's goal gave Bowdoin the victory despite a 21-11 deficit in shots. Polar Bear sophomore goalie Maddie Lane (Topsham, Maine) made nine saves and Trinity senior goalie Lily Pepper (Princeton Junction, N.J.) had six stops.
