Hartford, Conn. – Senior attackman Greg
Brennan (East Setauket, N.Y.) scored four goals to lead
the Trinity College Bantams to a 13-5 win over the visiting Lasell
College Lasers in men's lacrosse action this afternoon on
Jesse/Miller Field. Trinity, ranked No. 4 in New England and
No. 15 in the nation, improves to 6-0, while the Lasers drop to 2-6
with their second consecutive defeat.
Nogueras and junior Eric Phillips (Darien,
Conn.) scored goals to give Trinity a 2-0 lead in the
opening four minutes, but Lasell cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal by
first-year Dylan Fernandes (Billerica,
Mass.). Trinity ended the first half with a 7-0 run
that included two scores apiece by Brennan and sophomore attackman
Rob Nogueras (Parkland, Fla.).
Lasell opened the second quarter with an immediate goal by
sophomore Dylan Gray (Bayport, N.Y.), before the
Bantams answered with four goals over the ensuing 15 minutes
including two more by Brennan. Trailing 13-2, the Lasers
finished the game on a 3-0 run, cutting the lead to 13-5 by the
final buzzer.
Fernandes led the Lasers with two goals, while Nogueras scored
three times, and senior Michael Ritter (Winnetka,
Ill.) and sophomore Nick Shaheen
(Williamsburg, Mass.) picked up a goal and an assist
apiece for the Bantams. Trinity junior goalie Peter
Johnson (Riverside, Conn.) made 10 saves in three
quarters, before yielding to freshman Derek Koelsch
(Yorktown, N.Y.) who stopped four shots.
Eric Walsh (Weymouth, Mass.) and Tyler
Sillman (Windsor, Conn.) combined to make eight saves for
the Lasers, while Lasell junior Adam Foss (Billerica,
Mass.) totaled a game-high eight ground balls.
