Trinity Women's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Tie with Connecticut College

Box Score

New London, Conn.— Senior Lily Pepper (Princeton Jct., N.J.) stopped three shots as the Bantams held Connecticut College scoreless through regulation and two overtime periods, resulting in a 0-0 draw in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action today.  Trinity moves to 3-0-2 overall and 1-0-2 in the NESCAC, while the Camels remain winless on the season with an 0-3-1 overall record and an 0-2-1 league mark.

The Trinity offense dominated offensive possession of the ball for the majority of the match, outshooting the Camels 23-12 in the game, 10-5 in the second half, and 8-1 in overtime.

The game did not come without ample scoring opportunity for either team.  Early in the second half, senior Katie Giberson (Valhalla, N.Y.) had a goal taken away after being whistled for off-sides.  Five minutes later, The Camels bounced a shot over a wide open net.  Senior co-captain Leigh Howard (Bethany, Conn.) got two strong shots off at the end of regulation and first overtime, but both sailed high of the cage.

The biggest opportunity of the game came with less than 20 seconds remaining in the first overtime period, when Giberson struck a shot that appeared to be headed for the back of the net, but curled to the left side of goal and clanked off the post.  The Camels got a shot off in the second overtime period, but to no avail.

First-year goalkeeper Natalie Signor (Glastonbury, Conn.) stepped off the bench to make six saves for the Camels, including a diving stab with 24 seconds left in the first overtime, denying Heather Lynne (Wethersfield, Conn.) of a goal, and preserving the tie.  Junior Amy Lowitt (Baltimore, Md.) made three saves in 52 minutes of action as the Camels' starting keeper to earn a shared shutout with Signor.

Rebecca Parente (Orange, Conn.) led the Camels with three shots, while Trinity senior Howard (Bethany, Conn.)  posted a team-best seven shots for the Bantams.
