Trinity Women's Soccer Loses To Middlebury On Late Goal

Box Score

Hartford, Conn. – Carter Talgo scored the game-winning goal in the 75th minute to lead the visiting Middlebury College Panthers to a 2-1 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon.  Trinity falls to 4-6 overall and 3-5 in the NESCAC with its second loss in a row, while the Panthers improve to 9-1-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the league.

Middlebury  took the lead first in the 32nd minute on a well-placed ball from Julia Favorito that made its way through the center of the pitch and snuck over Trinity freshman goalie Monica DiFiori's (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) head.

The Bantams answered with a goal of their own thanks to a Kelsey Thomas (Stonington, Conn.)blast that Middlebury goalie Elizabeth Foody couldn't handle, and sophomore Elisa Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) cleaned up the rebound just after the half. A few minutes into the second half, Talgo placed the decisive goal past Thomas' left shoulder.

“The loss was not ideal, but the support was definitely there, like it has been for my entire career. I wish we could have gone out with a victory for those who came out, but the support was definitely awesome. These next few games are key though,” remarked Bantam senior midfielder Martha Dane (Littleton, Mass.).
