Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Rookie forwards Abbey Lake (Westport,
Conn.) and Kelsey Thomas (Stonington, Conn.) scored unassisted
goals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-2 tie against the
visiting Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors in
women's soccer action this afternoon. Trinity moves to 4-6-1
while snapping a two-game losing streak, while the Warriors are now
6-6-2. Both teams extend winless streaks to three games.
Trailing, 2-1, at the break, Trinity tied the game in the 55th
minute when Lake came up with the ball that had come free of
Eastern Connecticut senior goalkeeper Mackenzie MacLeod
(Northfield, Conn.) and quickly fired into net for her team-leading
ninth goal in 10 games. MacLeod and Trinity first-year
backstop Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) each made four
saves to preserve the draw including two early stops on shots from
close range early in the first overtime by MacLeod. MacLeod
finished with 10 saves and DiFiori had eight stops.

The Warriors had opened the scoring 4:08 into the contest when
sophomore back Whitney Mantel (Stamford, Conn.) evaded Trinity
defenders in the box before sending a short cross to senior forward
Daniela Marchitto (Orange, Conn.) who one-timed the ball past
DiFiori. Thomas scored the first Bantam goal on a direct kick
that sailed just over MacLeod's head and just under the cross
bar in the 26th minute, but Warrior senior midfielder Kelly Wallace
(South Windsor, Conn.) returned the favor with an almost identical
shot off the same situation seven minutes later to give Eastern
Connecticut a 2-1 lead. Trinity sophomore midfielder Elisa
Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) accounted for the closest near miss of the
game with just under six minutes left in the first half, nailing
the cross bar with a shot from left corner of the box.
