Box Score Hartford, Conn. – The freshman trio of Alexa Menard (Wallingford, Conn.), Kelsey Thomas (Stonington, Conn.), and Abbey Lake (Westport, Conn.) combined for four goals and two assists to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the NESCAC with its first win in three games, while the Camels drop to 0-3-1 overall and 0-3 in the league.
Menard started things off with a goal off a cross by Thomas 17:53 into the game, and the score stayed, 1-0, into the second half before Thomas ran onto a through ball by sophomore midfielder Elisa Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) and finishing low in the corner just past the reach of Camel senior goalie Amy Lowitt (Baltimore, Md.) in the 54th minute. Connecticut College answered 12 seconds later on a goal by junior Aina Torres (Barcelona, Spain), but Trinity responded quickly as well with a goal from senior midfielder Martha Dane (Acton, Mass.) to Lake with 32:27 left on the clock. Menard fed Lake for another Trinity goal in the 70th minute. Lowitt made two saves, and first-year Monica DeFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) had seven saves in the Trinity goal. Both teams took 14 shots, but Trinity doubled up Connecticut College on corner kicks, 8-4.
