Lake Hat Trick Helps Trinity Women's Soccer Win At Colby

Box Score

Waterville, Maine - First-year Abbey Lake (Westport, Conn.) scored in the final minute of the opening half and added two more goals in the second half to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 3-1 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) win against the Colby Mules this afternoon.  Trinity moves to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in conference play, while the Mules fall to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the league.

Lake put the Bantams up 1-0 on an unassisted goal when she had an extended dribble into the box and fired in the shot.  Colby bounced back quickly in the second half when Alex Yorke (Chicago, Ill.) pushed a ball into the box and Annie Papadellis (Hopkinton, Mass.) tallied about six minutes into play.

About six minutes after the Colby goal, Lake scored the clincher off the first of two assists from classmate Arleigha Cook (Dartmouth, Mass.). The two then combined on the final goal at 69:20 when Cook's pass into the box was knocked in by Lake.  First-year Monika DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) stopped three shots for Trinity in net, while Jayde Bennett (Lynn, Mass.) made four saves.
