Box Score Middlebury, Vt. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams dropped a
3-1 decision against the Middlebury College Panthers in New England
Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action this
afternoon. Trinity falls to 7-2-2 overall and 3-2-2 in the
NESCAC, while the Panthers improve to 4-3-1 overall and 3-3-1 in
the conference with their first win in three games.
Middlebury took a 1-0 lead exactly 18 minutes into the game.
Adam Glaser took a pass from Tom Bean and moved towards the goal
before chipping a quick shot over Trinity junior goalkeeper Jason
Katz (Middleton, Mass.) for the marker. Deklan Robinson gave his
team a 2-0 lead at 24:17, heading in a crossing pass from the right
side by Harper Williams. Trinity got on the board with 6:24
left in the half when rookie forward Cody Savonen (Orleans, Mass.)
found Fernando Cuervo-Torello (Arlington, Mass.) at the top of the
box for the first marker of his career.
Middlebury regained its two-goal cushion 51:04 into the contest
with Glaser's team-leading fifth goal of the season. Greg
Conrad headed the ball into the middle where Glaser battled before
creating some space with a quick shot to the back of the net.
The Panthers had another great chance in the 79th minute, but a
beautiful shot from Williams from a restart 25 yards out was denied
by a leaping save from Trinity freshman backstop Domenic Quade
(Norwood, Mass.). Ethan Collins finished the game with a pair
of saves for Middlebury, while Katz and Quade made four and two
saves, respectively.
