Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Senior captain forward Lauren Glynn
(Tucson, Ariz.) had a goal and an assist and classmate Alexa Pujol
(New Canaan, Conn.) made 24 saves to earn her second-straight
shutout in goal, leading the Trinity College Bantams to a 3-0
victory over the visiting University of Southern Maine Huskies in
women's hockey action this afternoon on Williams Rink in the
Koeppel Community Sports Center. Trinity improves to 4-3-3
with its second win over Huskies in as many days, having won, 6-1,
in the two-game series opener last evening. Southern Maine
drops to 6-5.
Trinity senior captain forward Emily Kleidon (Oakdale, Minn.)
scored the only goal the home team needed 4:04 into the game during
a power play from sophomores Cheeky Herr (Princeton, N.J.) and
Shelby Labe (Pine Brook, N.J.). The Bantam defense held
Southern Maine to just four shots in the opening stanza, while
Pujol and Husky sophomore Nia Kelly (Cary, N.C.) made 11 and eight
saves, respectively, during a scoreless second period.
In the third frame, Glynn scored from sophomore forward Brooke
Heron (South Salem, N.Y.) with 12:14 on the clock, and joined
junior forward Abby Ostrom (Carlisle, Mass.) with helpers on the
final goal of the game by junior forward Lucy Robinson (Toronto,
Ontario). Kelly totaled 22 saves, and the Huskies yielded
goals on two of five power plays while coming up empty on its four
chances with the extra skater.
