Trinity Women's Soccer Wins Late Against Middlebury

Box Score

Hartford, Conn. – Junior forward Alexa Menard (Wallingford, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal from senior tri-captain Elisa Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) in the 84th minute to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1 win over the visiting Middlebury College Panthers in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon.  Trinity improves to 5-4-1 with its first victory in three games and nets its first league win to improve to 1-4-1 in the NESCAC.  Middlebury, ranked No. 8 in New England, drops to 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference with its second setback in a row.

Dolan tallied her first assist of the game in the 24th minute, feeding fellow senior Karyn Barrett (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) for her fifth goal of the season that gave Trinity a 1-0 lead.  Middlebury tied it just 1:38 into the second stanza when Hannah Robinson (Davidson, N.C.) found Claire Nishioka (Wayland, Mass.) for the lone Panther goal of the game.  Trinity junior GK Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) made three of her five saves over a six-minute span early in the second half to keep the game knotted at 1-1, before Menard tallied her first marker of the campaign to win it for the home team.  Middlebury outshot Trinity, 20-7, including a 13-to-3 margin in the second half, while Panther goalie Emily Eslinger (Wayzata, Minn.) made one save.
