Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Junior forward Alexa Menard
(Wallingford, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal from
senior tri-captain Elisa Dolan (Bethesda, Md.) in
the 84th minute to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1
win over the visiting Middlebury College Panthers in New England
Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer
action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 5-4-1 with its
first victory in three games and nets its first league win to
improve to 1-4-1 in the NESCAC. Middlebury, ranked No. 8 in
New England, drops to 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference with
its second setback in a row.
Dolan tallied her first assist of the game in the
24th minute, feeding fellow senior Karyn Barrett (Cape
Elizabeth, Maine) for her fifth goal of the season that
gave Trinity a 1-0 lead. Middlebury tied it just 1:38 into
the second stanza when Hannah Robinson (Davidson,
N.C.) found Claire Nishioka (Wayland,
Mass.) for the lone Panther goal of the game.
Trinity junior GK Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach,
Calif.) made three of her five saves over a six-minute
span early in the second half to keep the game knotted at 1-1,
before Menard tallied her first marker of the campaign to win it
for the home team. Middlebury outshot Trinity, 20-7,
including a 13-to-3 margin in the second half, while Panther goalie
Emily Eslinger (Wayzata, Minn.) made one save.
