Clermont, Fla. – The Trinity College softball team split a doubleheader versus Plymouth State and Keene State on Thursday morning at the NTC Sports Complex. With the split, the Bantams end their spring trip and return to the Constitution State with a 3-7 record. Trinity won the opener, 7-4, against the Owls and fell to the Owls, 10-1, in five innings in game two.

In game one, Trinity erased an early four-run deficit with seven unanswered to score a come-from-behind victory. After getting into some trouble in the first, junior pitcher Hannah King (Kennebunk, Maine) was dominant in the circle for Trinity, tossing a complete game with a season-high 14 strikeouts while walking just two batters. King struck out the side in both the fourth and seventh innings and struck out two batters in three other frames. Offensively, junior Erica Quinones (Trumbull, Conn.) had her best game of the spring, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. First-year Meaghan Race (Grand Rapids, Mich.) also registered a multi-hit game as she went 2-for-4 with a three RBIs. Trinity had its strongest game of the season at the plate, smacking a season-high 12 hits, highlighted by three doubles, while striking out just three times.

In the finale, Keene State scored eight runs in the first two innings to pull away from the Bantams. Trinity's run came around to score in the home half of the second as first-year catcher Paola Otero (Lynn, Mass.) hit a one-out groundout to second base that plated senior Miranda Riendeau-Card (Bowdoinham, Maine). Owls starting pitcher Ashlee McGan kept the Bantams off balance at the plate throughout the contest, holding Trinity to four hits. Riendeau-Card, first-year Katharine Haghdan (Pelham, N.H.), Quinones and first-year Alex Hnat (Ridgewood, N.J.) all had singles for the Bantams. In the circle, first-year Rachael Smith (Winchester, Mass.) was saddled with the loss for Trinity. Classmate Lexi Santurri (East Greenwich, R.I.) pitched well in relief for the Bantams, going the final 3.1 innings and striking out three while scattering two hits.

Trinity returns to action on Tuesday, Mar. 24, with a home doubleheader in Hartford versus in-state rival Coast Guard.
