Box Score Waterville, Maine - A goal in the second half from junior forward Andi Nicholson (Grafton, Mass.) was all Trinity needed to move past Colby 1-0 in Saturday morning's New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) matchup between the Bantams and the Colby College Mules. Trinity improves to 5-1 on the year and 3-1 in NESCAC play while Colby drops to 1-3-1 on the year and 0-3-1 in conference action.
Nicholson scored her third goal of the year after junior Laura Nee (Duxbury, Mass.) got the ball deep in the Mules' defensive third and pushed a pass past goalie Samantha Rizzo (Swampscott, Mass.) that Nicholson was able to tap in just over 10 minutes into the second half. The Bantams defense held strong, stopping a handful of scoring opportunities from Colby in the game.
Senior goalie Monica DiFiori (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) recorded another shutout, her fourth of the year, while recording seven saves. Mules goalie Samantha Rizzo finished the day with seven saves, allowing the lone Trinity goal.
Trinity plays next on Wednesday, Sept. 30, as they travel to Massachusetts to take on No. 23 ranked Wheaton. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
