Box Score Hartford, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams and the Middlebury College Panthers played to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action at Campus Field in Hartford. Trinity moves to 6-4-2 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play while the Panthers sit at 7-1-3 on the year and 3-1-3 in league play after today's result.
Trinity senior goalie Domenic Quade (Norwood, Mass.) recorded six saves on the day to keep the Panthers off the scoreboard whlie his counterpart, Middlebury senior keeper Greg Sydor (Madison, Conn.), stopped five Trinity shots on the day.
The Bantams had a good look at goal in the second half when a potential goal from sophomore Alex Steel (Weston, Mass.) hit the post and deflected away to keep things scoreless. Middlebury sophomore Daniel O'Grady (Beacon, N.Y.) also planted a ball off the post during the 72nd minute in a good scoring opportunity before a big save by Quade on a shot from freshman Dave Goulart (Weston, Mass.) ended a Panther offensive threat.
Overtime was played tough by both teams but without incident as Middlebury took four shots in the two ten minute extra sessions, however none of which were on goal. Trinity fired just one shot on goal in the second overtime that was handled by Sydor to preserve the draw.
The Bantams return to action tomorrow when they host NESCAC foe Tufts at 3:30 p.m. at Campus Field.
